SLANT BOARD

 

The concept behind using a slant board is making it easier to write. The added bonus is that papers will be clipped at the top and wonít slip.
   
Ingredients: 3" - 3 Ring Binder
  Clip (designed for bags of potato chips)
  Glue
   
Directions: Position the 3 ring binder on a table in front of you. If correct, the 3 ring binder should be on its side and should be sloping towards you. Glue the clip to the binder (see picture).

NON-SLIP RULER

 

Drawing a straight line is easier said then done. With this adaptation, a straight line will be done a lot easier.
   
12” Ruler (flat top preferable)
  Cabinet knob
  Glue
  Caulk
Glue the cabinet knob to the ruler. Placement should be on top of the ruler at 6”. Apply a strip of caulk to the bottom of the ruler. The ruler will be ready to use after the caulk has completely dried.
   
Don’t have a spare cabinet knob?? Try using a spool (less the thread) attaching it with glue.

CLEAN FACE

 

Sometimes it is challenging for a child to keep their face clean at the table. Children with sensory issues have a particularly hard feeling food on their face. Our daughter has been doing this adaptation for a few years.
   
Ingredients: Free standing mirror
   
Directions: Place the mirror on the table in front of your child. After a few Teach your child to look at themselves in the mirror and wipe a way the crumbs.
   
Variation: 1. Tack a mirror up to the wall closes to the child's chair.
2. Use a hand held pocket mirror. Great away from home!
